Barcelona Set to Play First Game at Partially Completed Camp Nou over the weekend

Barça revealed they will play at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou over the weekend. The club will host Athletic Bilbao in domestic competition over two years after they moved out so building work could begin.

“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”

The stadium will not be at full capacity with 45,401 fans will be allowed to watch under the licence granted. Once fully finished, it will accommodate close to 105,000 fans, up from the previous 99,000. Officials confirmed completed upgrades featured a new players’ tunnel plus modern locker rooms.

Preparatory Events

Barça organized an open training session on the home pitch earlier this month. The club said they were hoping for permission by UEFA for their upcoming Champions League fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt next month in the renovated venue. Their recent games have been held at the Olympic Stadium.
