Salah Extends Statement to Squad, Says Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has shared that the Egyptian forward said sorry to the team in the wake of the controversy from his public comments.
The Incident
Salah was left out from a European match following voicing frustrations and suggesting his rapport with Arne Slot had soured.
“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, I'm sorry.’”
Arne Slot has chosen not to reveal on whether he got an explanation from the player.
Looking Ahead
He emphasized that the team's response remained positive. “He was the exact same Mo, his demeanour was positive and everybody was exactly the same with him,” the midfielder explained.
He also noted that a player's desire to start is a positive trait. “I get that there are certain ways you can handle situations,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just not start, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
Team Form
Their results have remained strong in the period after the initial controversy. He feels the forward's comments were not intended to destabilise the squad.
“If passion has boiled over, it has consistently come from a desire to win,” Jones concluded. “It's behind us and we’re uniting strongly, playing well and on a positive run.”
